British Gas Ordered 100 Nissan e-NV200 Electric Vans, Good News for the City Express?

With New York signing a contract with Nissan for their NV200 vans to be be the "cab of the future," and now British Gas has ordered 100 Nissan e-NV200 electric vans. All-in-all, I think that companies ordering the Nissan NV200 in large numbers should point toward good things for the Chevy City Express.

Paul Kidd, a British Gas Service & Repair engineer, remarked that the Nissan e-NV200 made driving between customer's homes "a little bit easier."

Quote:
He remarked that the van’s ride was smooth and stress-free, adding that he was “really disappointed” when he had to give it back. He said he would recommend the Nissan e-NV200 van to other engineers. Colin Marriott, general manager of fleet at British Gas stated that they were “extremely impressed” with the performance of the Nissan e-NV200 during the winter trial.
A big order like this I think also makes it a bit more likely that an e-City Express could be in order.

I think we will be seeing reports of many more fleet buys, so far it seems like Nissan is going to do very well with it. a lot of interest in the NV

I'm sorry but I disagree with the logic.

Consider the pricing

City Express: $22,950
NV200: $20,290

So if companies are ordering the NV200 what makes you believe that companies are going to spend an extra $2K per unit for the EXACT SAME VAN...

and again, when talking about an e-city express. Nissan is already making a dent in this market, why would companies who are clearly looking to reduce costs by eliminate fuel inputs willingly fork over an extra premium to chevrolet for the exact same van.

But what do i know, I'm just a fisherman who don't know nothing..

Nissan might be doing the same, but perhaps Chevy would give a discount when you buy a significant amount of the vans at the same time. Also realize that people (not just businesses) who are choosing between the NV200 and the City Express also face the same problem as far as pricing goes. I can't see why you would buy the more expensive model, but some people must be buying it. Chevy wouldn't put the price there if no one would buy it.

I think that they are working as maintenance vehicles. Driving from house to house and fixing, installing, etc... people's gas systems. So its basically just a contractor van kinda.
