bowtie Good to know, thankfully they have these that wont rust. I hate rust, it's like cancer for vehicles.

Both the Topper unit, and the Vantech one shouldn't rust. Topper uses galvanized steel tubes like those on TV antennae, but the hardware is zinc coated steel and that might rust eventually. Vantech is all aluminum with stainless hardware. Both are powder coated.

It's made in Milwaukee, WI by Topper Mfg. It bolted right onto the nuts welded into the roof. It's heavy, galvanized steel maybe sixty lbs. and should last longer than the van. It came with the van as part of an up-fitting promotional package. Adrian Steel threw in some shelves, and offered a bulkhead that I turned down. A local sign shop offered to do a free full-wrap truck sign, but I prefer anonymity. Hopefully, Chevy will offer a similar promotion.

I put a light-duty aluminum rack on at first, but wanted something more versatile. It was from Vantech. Here, it's hauling a countertop. It was also low enough to it fit in the garage. Getting a wrench into that angled support to tighten the roof mount bolt was fun. Nice stainless hardware.

Reason why im staying away for now, don't want to go through that. but then again it's not like it's all of them. Some are reporting that they had 0 issues.

Ernest oh very proper! I believe the City Express will get a Chev headunit and maps, but we'll see most of the systems are downright horrid! I've never been a fan of CVT's and it still has me partially on the fence about the CE, but it does make sense for keeping you consistently in the power especially when loaded to the hilt.

Yes, I've had a 24' extension ladder on the rack. It's easy to get it on and off from the rear because the rack sticks out a bit. Today, it was used to transport a 5'x5' tub surround box.

Other thoughts on the van... minor complaints: there's a blind spot on the passenger side. The wide angle mirror doesn't quite cover it. A sliding door window would help. The driver's sun visor doesn't block the side window very well. One of the bolt holes (welded nuts) for the roof rack was partially blocked by the sheet metal of the roof. I had to use a die grinder to enlarge the hole, and then prime and paint the edge to prevent rust. No passenger arm rest. The van is conspicuous, so if you don't want to be noticed...

The good stuff: the backup camera is very precise especially when getting close to something. The CVT makes city driving smoother without all the shifting between gears. We'll see how it holds up. The file holder is useful for filing receipts instead of clipping them to the visor. The Nav system is OK, but I prefer Google Maps on the phone. I'm happy with the power of the engine. It gets up to highway speed by the end of every on-ramp that I've tried. Organizing the back is a work in progress, but the ease of getting stuff in and out is worth the change. I'm using "This is Carpentry" for inspiration.

A heavy-duty roof rack probably lowers the mpgs, but not much around town. Rack choices are a bit limited, but this one does the job and fits under a standard seven foot garage door opening with a ladder on it.

have you ever tried to put a ladder up their?
