that is true, a proper frame does matter as having one strong enough makes the difference. not always about the engine.

Towing reciever

I have a tow bar but Not towed yet.
I will tow small items like a small boat or and empty trailer.
As long as I stay well under the total GVRW I'm not worried.its the same a putting 1500# in the back.
I will be fitting a bumper extender in the receiver.
The bumper is so small and low it's useless it only holds the back up beepers.....that I don't think you get them on the NV200.
When I get loaded by a forklift I want to have SOMTHING between the bumper and the forklift see photo of Super bumper includes rubber shock absorber too.

I've been very happy with my towing. It tows fine.
Posted towing thread

I got a trailer hitch. Curt and a wiring harness from etrailer.
I was having work done on van so had them install the hitch, did wiring kit myself.
Hardest part was hiding wiring under the trim panels but was able to do a good job it's all well hidden.
It uses the European type converter box and worked right first time. Nice. Took a 2-3 hrs to do. But mainly plug and play.
Towed a small aluminum boat with some wood on top maybe a 700# load.
Keep the total GVRW well with in the limits and no issues at all
Transmission did not notice it and the van performed the same as when I had a 1500# load with no trailer.
The only reason for no trailer rating I understand is for the modified chassis for the american market.
Euro models have a tow rating. Trans is used on many other Nissans with towing capacity.

I also use the hitch socket for a bumper protector so when I get loaded with a forklift the hit it and not the tiny bumper.
FYI

The greater part of the towbars that we fit are mounted to the settling focuses as indicated by the auto producer, and are Type Approved where fitting.
Not particularly about the e-NV200, but rather about EVs all in all - I am extremely baffled that tow bars and roof bars are such a hazy area. I need to have the capacity to do everything in an EV.

hi frank
not sure what you are asking but if you stay with in the GVRW of a vehicle then you can tow or carry on roof rack. just remember everything you add including the driver is included in the max gvrw rating. it adds up fast , tool boxes , anything you put in the van.
cheers warren

PS Mercedes do not/did not have tow capacity rating but they are used for towing! just saying....
