Warren mangan Gm did this with the Toyota corolla and chev Nova on the late 80's.
The resale of the Nova was always less than the Toyota , go figure.
They were made on exactly the same manufacturing line in California I think.
They tried to sell the Corolla based Nova on south america ....but No va means no go in Spanish.
(It really applied to the original Nova...)
Badge engineering as it is called is very common and been going on for a long time.
The advantage is we are now able to buy a chevy made by Nissan.
Finally a chevy I want to buy. ( replaced my 2nd Astro with the city express)

bowtie It's taking over quite a lot, it's the best thing to do. Thankfully they know where to stop when doing this.

conquerer platform sharing is even bigger and more widespread than these rebadged models.

you'd be surprised what cars share the same platform

bowtie There's also the Sprinter which both Dodge and Mercedes use. They both look like each other hard to tell the two apart from far

conquerer there are way more than that

this has been done for a long time.

FIAT Ducato/ RAM promaster, but not the same markets.

Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute

Nissan March/Renault Twingo

Anything GM from the 80's to 2008...

bowtie I wouldn't say that, more weight isn't really always a good thing, maybe when it comes to winter driving
